Fracture resistance of endodontically treated teeth with different direct corono-radicular restoration methods

چکیده
BACKGROUND Endodontically treated teeth are widely considered to be more susceptible to fracture than vital teeth. Obturation procedures and post placement have been a main cause of vertical root fracture. MATERIAL AND METHODS Forty-eight human premolars with standardized weakened roots were endodontically treated and allocated to four experimental groups (n=12). After root canal treatment, in group 1, fiber posts #1 were cemented in root canals using Estelite Core Quick, and the crowns were restored with resin composite. For group 2 and 3, the roots and crowns were restored using a light-cured and self-cured adhesive and resin composites respectively. In group 4, it was used the Panavia F 2.0 resin cement and resin composite for corono-radicular reconstruction. In group 5, the teeth remained untouched. After 24 hours storage and 1000 thermocycles, samples were loaded at a cross head speed of 1 mm per minute. RESULTS A significant difference was observed in fracture resistance among groups 4 and 5 compared to other groups. CONCLUSIONS Root reconstruction with fiber post and Panavia resin cement, and crown building using light-cured resin composite resulted in increased fracture resistance equal to that of intact teeth. Key words:Fracture resistance, fiber post, resin cement, resin composite.

Fracture Resistance and Failure Mode of Endodontically Treated Premolars Restored with Different Adhesive Restorations
Introduction: The restoration of endodontically treated teeth is a topic that has been studied extensively but it is still a challenge for dental practitioners. The aim of this study was to evaluate fracture resistance, fracture patterns and fracture location of endodontically treated human maxillary premolars restored with direct and indirect composite resin and ceramic restoration. Methods: E...

Restoration of endodontically treated teeth is a common problem in dentistry, related to the fractures occurring in such teeth and to concentration of forces little information regarding variation of basic preparation guidelines in stress distribution has been available. To date, there is still no agreement in the literature about which material or technique can optimally restore endodontically...

متن کاملA comparative evaluation of the fracture resistance of endodontically treated teeth with compromised intra radicular tooth structure using three different post system
Intra-radicular loss of tooth structure in endodontically treated teeth poses a challenge. Available methods for treatment are cast post-core, intra-radicular resin reinforcement using composite resin followed by placement of prefabricated metal/fibre post (glass or carbon). This study is an attempt to investigate the validity of treatment of such teeth using above methods and evaluate which pos...
متن کاملLongevity of Amalgam Build-Up Restorations in Endodontically Treated Teeth
Background and Aim: Restoration of endodontically treated teeth is one of the most important and challenging topics in restorative dentistry. Longevity of such restorations is an essential factor in treatment planning. Amalgam build-up is a conservative method for restoration of endodontically treated teeth. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the longevity of this type of restoration in endo...
